Programming with data

Teaching sessions include experiential activities such as critique of example scenarios; these scenarios will include situations tailored to real world case studies. This first-year project allows you to develop and cultivate a creative mind-set through collaborative innovative practice, allowing you to bring together knowledge and imagination to construct a viable product. Study spaces and computers are available to offer you choice and flexibility for your study. Our five library sites give you access to over 1.3 million books and periodicals. Two students have been hired to work alongside London Met lecturer Sandra Fernando on a major data analysis project, giving them real-life work experience alongside their degrees. This module will introduce students to modern statistical modelling techniques and how those techniques can be used for prediction and forecasting. He also looks after the final year project (CMP6200) and leads the L4 common module (Computer Programming) across the whole school. In this module, you will consider the design of collaboration and communication technologies used in a variety of different contexts including workplace, domestic and leisure environments. You will consider the basic principles of such technologies, explore the technologies from a social perspective, consider their impact on human behaviour and critically reflect on their design from a human-centred perspective. This module builds on parts of the ACE module addressing data structures and formal reasoning and introduces concepts which are important to understand the analysis of algorithms in terms of their complexity.

Potential job roles that are well suited to graduates of our robotics and AI degree include Robotic Engineer, Machine Learning Engineer, Research and Design Engineer, Business Intelligence Developer, and Computer Engineer. And no matter what field you choose to start your career in, you’ll be equipped with sought after transferable skills like problem solving, statistical analysis, and data visualisation. You’ll learn about the theory and techniques in different artificial intelligence approaches and explore the aspects of data analysis and its implications on intelligence systems. We’ll give you more information on improving your employability and the skills you’ll need in the workplace. At the end of Year 2 you’ll have the option of taking a 12-month industrial placement. This module will cover different types of machine learning and various algorithms of each type. You will develop fundamental skills, such as learning the powerful general-purpose programming language C++, and experience in-depth study of computer networks and systems. Using artificial intelligence code, you will learn how to control advanced mobile robots in our purpose-built laboratory.
